The Space

The Expedition MAX trims are 11.9 inches longer than their Expedition counterparts. This additional space shows up in the cargo area, which is 15 cubic feet larger than the Expedition trims. The Expedition MAX comes with 34.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third-row seats. If you have a lot to carry, you can fold down the second and third-row seats, creating a maximum cargo space of 121.5 cubic feet.

The MAX Trims

There are four different Expedition MAX trims to choose from, beginning with the XLT MAX. This entry-level option comes with eight-passenger seating, complete with USB ports next to the PowerFold third-row seats. You’ll also have tri-zone electronic automatic temperature control, so everyone can stay comfortable. In the Limited MAX, you’ll also have an upgraded 12-speaker sound system, LED fog lamps, LED headlights, and a panoramic vista roof.

The King Ranch MAX trim upgrades the sound system again, this time to a B&O model with 22 speakers and a subwoofer. This trim also upgrades the 12.0-inch touchscreen to a beautiful 15.5-inch center stack screen, placed vertically on the dash. The top-tier Platinum MAX makes parking easy with active park assist 2.0. You’ll also have Ford BlueCruise for hands-free driving, and zone lighting throughout.

The Maximum Towing Capacity

The Expedition MAX is a powerful vehicle that can handle towing your family’s gear on your next big vacation. In fact, these trims can tow up to 9,000 pounds when properly equipped. To get the most towing capacity possible from your Expedition MAX, you’ll want to add the available heavy-duty trailer tow package.

The Impressive Ford BlueCruise Technology

This new hands-free technology is standard on the Platinum MAX. This technology allows you to drive with your hands off the wheel on 97% of controlled-access highways in the US and Canada. Consumer Reports gave this available feature their top rating for active driving assistance systems on the market today.

With this feature activated, you can switch lanes on the highway by simply pressing the turn signal. Your Ford BlueCruise will handle the work of safely changing lanes for you. The technology also comes with a driver-facing camera, which will send you an alert if your attention strays from the road ahead. The system can also watch the lane lines and adjacent vehicles, and then safely reposition within the lane for enhanced safety.
